School children work for Upendo Daima

April 2012

Vasten actie St. Jozefschool and De Weerborg in Wehe den Hoorn.

This year these two schools have held a “Vasten Actie” for the children of Upendo Daima.

When Brenda Bartelink suggested Upendo Daima as a purpose for the Vastenactie both schools were immediately very enthousiastic. Brenda also helped with the presentations which were given to the children by the chairman of UDN, Andre van Strijp and his wife Maria. The children were very inventive and in addition to collecting empty bottles they sold home baked cookies, washed cars, sold toys, carried out small jobs or even sold decorated horseshoes! In less than ten days they collected almost 590 euro! This money will be used to buy shoes and uniforms for the children of Upendo Daima.

When the money was handed over all the children of both schools were present and Andre expressed his sincere thanks to all the children the management teams of both schools on behalf of all the boys of Upendo Daima. He promised also to send some pictures of the boys when they are wearing the uniforms and shoes.

It was very heartwarming to see so much enthousiasm of all the children who worked hard to collect so much money for the boys of Upendo Daima.

Asante Sana.
