Watchmen and mentor, our fifth team member
My name is Michael Peter Maguge from Lumala, Mwanza. I work 8 years for Upendo Daima at the Back Home House in Pasiansi. The first six years as guard and since then as mentor.
My overall activity as mentor is to help children living in difficult and risky environments. To give advice and to educate about the impact of living on the street and to introduce self-awareness. I also inform them that the community is loving them like any other child and that any child (both living at home and in vulnerable circumstances) has the same rights as indicated below:
- To be Loved
- To get Clothing, Food and Accommodation
- To get Education
- To be listened to, to be respected and to respect others
Generally, I love working with vulnerable children and to help them. I also like to advice the entire community of Tanzania that they should clearly realize that they also have a duty towards all children living in difficult circumstances, whether in streets or when living at the family homes.
