Our ninth Team Member is presenting himself
From Street Child to Social Worker
July 2017
My name is Ally Omoyo Awamu, I am 23 years old. Some past years I was among the street children in Tanzania. I have been in the streets for more than 5 years in different areas within Mwanza City and outside Mwanza City in Tanzania.
By luck one day when in the streets, the eyes of Upendo Daima organisation who deals with the street children in Mwanza City, Tanzania found me as a street boy. They took me to school at Nyamalango Primary School which is near to Malimbe Family of Upendo Daima.
I finished my primary education and I was selected to join in Secondary education at Luchelele Secondary School which is a non-boarding School. Through Upendo Daima they took me to boarding School at Nyamilama Secondary School where I graduated my Secondary School Education and I was awarded a Secondary School Certificate. I joined a College basing in Law and Human Rights studies.
From Primary School to College, Upendo Daima Organisation was supporting me for everything. At the moment I am employed at Upendo Daima (Back Home House) as a Social Worker.
I like this work not only because I was a street boy or child but also I want to show the street children and the society that you can be nothing but when you determine to struggle and not give up, you will be something in front of those people who looked at you as nothing.
Lots of my thanks to those who are supporting Upendo Daima because without them I could not reach where I have reached now.
