The second-hand bookshop De Boekenlegger in Tiel is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. This was celebrated on 10 October with a small party for all the volunteers at De Boekenlegger. Of course, the initiators from 20 years ago, Wilma van Barschot, Cora Schiltmans and Seya van de Berg, were also present. After starting out selling books from home, a real shop was soon established. De Boekenlegger is run by around 25 enthusiastic volunteers. In addition to selling books in the current shop at Vleesstraat 12A, De Boekenlegger can also be found at book markets and sells online at https://www.boekenleggertiel.nl/. At the anniversary celebration, Upendo Daima received a cheque for 10,000 euros. In the twenty years that De Boekenlegger has been in existence, a total of more than 300,000 euros has been donated to Upendo Daima!
